Abstract
The method of increasing the ratio of chromium to iron in ores or materials containing chromium and iron oxides, which comprises roasting the ore or material in finely divided form with a reducing agent at a temperature of between about 1135 DEG C. and about 1170 DEG C., for example between about 1140 DEG C. and 1150 DEG C., and leaching the resulting roasted ore with sulphuric acid to dissolve out reduced iron therefrom.
