Abstract
603,361. Ball mills. BRITISH REMA MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and DAVIS, J. Oct. 18, 1945, No. 27410. [Class 59] A ball mill having grinding plates 5 surrounded by coarse and fine screening-panels 6, 7 is enclosed in a casing 1 having, at the top, an air or gas inlet 12 and, at the bottom, an outlet 14 for the air or gas and entrained particles, the air flow being diametrically through the mill. The air flow is effected by a fan 13 which discharges into the inlet 12 and sucks from the outlet 14 through a Cyclone or other separator 16 and conduit 17. Excess of air may be discharged to atmosphere through a conduit 19 controlled by a valve 20. In a modification. the fan 13 discharges directly to atmosphere, air being sucked through the inlet 12 and the mill by the fan suction connected tb the mill at 14. In a further modification, the fan discharge is connected to a pipe 22, the rush of air past the outlet 14 aspirating air through the inlet 12. The branch 23 is controlled by a valve and is open to atmosphere. Filters may be provided in the conduits where necessary to remove very fine particles from the air or gas stream. Hot drying-air or gas at atmospheric temperature may be admitted through a butterfly valve 25.
