603,140. Electric cables. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP -PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. June 4, 1946, No. 16935. Convention date, April 11, 1940. [Class 36] The insulation of an electric conductor comprises a layer consisting of, or containing as a main constituent, rubber hydrochloride covered by a layer consisting entirely or substantially of chlorinated rubber containing more than 60 per cent by weight of chlorine. There may be a further layer of a material of great mechanical strength such as cellulose lacquer or rubber hydrochloride. In an example, a stranded conductor may be wrapped with a film of rubber hydrochloride which is fused together and then coated with a layer consisting of 33 per cent of tricresylphosphate and 67 per cent of chlorinated rubber painted on in several layers as a solution in benzene ; this is followed by a lacquer consisting of 57 per cent of acetylcellulose, 13 per cent of triphenylphosphate and 30 per cent of tributylphosphate. The conductor may be finally covered with flax braiding and asphalt bitumen.
