Abstract

602,136. Making pipe fittings. BARR, THOMSON, & CO., Ltd., and REID, J. L. July 13, 1946, No. 28488. [Class 83 (ii)] Pipe bends are made by forming two press ings 10, 10a, each of annular trough form of semi-circular cross section, machining the edges 11 to bevelled form, placing the pressings together to form a hollow ring, welding by filling the groove formed between the edges with weld metal 12 and then sawing or otherwise cutting the pipe bends from the ring. The troughs may be made so that the position of the weld is in the plane of the bend, as shown or normal therto. Specification 272,302, [Class 83 (ii)], is referred to.
