Abstract
Films of polyethylene or polyethylene composition, which can be embossed or engraved are obtained from non-porous, smooth surfaced sheet material coated with polyethylene (see Group VIII) by stripping the coating of polythene from the sheet material. In an example a length of polished aluminium sheet, coated with a separating aid, is heated to 130 DEG C. by radiant heaters, coated with polythene, passed between two metal rollers, the top roller engraved, the rollers chilled and the polythene film set and then stripped from the metal sheet. The film was suitable for wrapping foodstuffs and making transparent envelopes and bags. Specifications 600,687, [Group VIII], and 601,713 are referred to.
