Abstract
600,394. Air cleaners. HOUDAILLEHERSHEY CORPORATION. Dec. 5, 1945, No. 32921. Convention date, Feb. 1. [Class 8 (ii)] In an air cleaner comprising a casing 1 and a filter 19 in the path of the air travelling from the casing inlet 6 to the outlet 12, and having a liquid sump below the filter, the casing is so shaped as to provide an annular open trough 33 beneath the air inlet passage 39, and a central well 37 of greater depth than the trough and having an anti-splash flange 38 to prevent accidental transfer of liquid from the well 37 to the trough 33. The filter material 19 of vegetable fibre, cattle-tail, hair or wavy wire is supported in a removable shell 9 located by projections 10. The filter is cleaned by washing in kerosene.
