Abstract
Porous building-blocks are produced by placing in a mould a mass of stone-forming composition of the kind containing substances which react chemically to produce bubbles of gas in the mass and, after fermentation and while the mass is still in a plastic state, sawing the mass into blocks. The mould may have four walls which can be swung down to expose the plastic mass. First two opposite walls are swung down and saw-cuts are made in one direction, then those two walls are swung up and the other two walls swung down, then saw-cuts are made at right-angles to the previous ones, and finally the second two walls are swung up, the mould walls are clamped together, and the blocks are hardened by steam in an autoclave.
