Abstract
599,720. Stays. MATTHEWS, L. C., WELSTEAD, E. R., VAUGHAN, J. E., WELSTEAD, C. E., and WELSTEAD, Ltd., C. E. Nov. 14, 1945, No. 30500. [Class 65 (i)] A stay fastener device for pivotal closures comprises a stay bar 1 pivoted to the surround and guided for sliding and pivoting movement relative to the closure 16, and lock means including a pair of cams 10, 13 having co-operating helical faces 12, 14 disposed between the stay bar and the part 15 relative to which it is guided, one cam 13 being held against rotation relative to the stay or the part, while the other, 10, is freely rotatable to produce relative axial movements of the cams. The cam 13 is prevented from rotating by the ears 19 and in a modification it is fixed to or integral with the stay bar. The cam 10 is rotated by a lever 11 which may engage a socket in the cam. In a further modification, a stay bar having a lengthwise guideway is pivoted to the closure, and a pin carrying the cams and provided with a head co-operating with the guideway is fixed to the surround.
