Abstract

598,026. Operating clutches. JONES, G. E. Aug. 29, 1945, No. 22211. [Class 80(ii)] In clutches for sewing machines, coil winding machines and the like, the driving clutch member 18 includes a pulley 15 whereby it is rotated freely on a fixed spindle 13 from a line shaft 1. The driven clutch member 20 is rotatably mounted on the spindle by a sleeve 22 which is spring pressed to keep the clutch members normally out of contact. The sleeve 22 has cam faces 24 co-operating with similar faces 25 on a fixed member 12, and has an operating lever 27 thereon. The driven clutch member is braked in the inoperative position by a brake block 36 on a spring urged pivoted three armed lever 31, 32, 38, the brake being released by a finger 39 on the sleeve 22.
