Abstract
594,376. Cornish boilers. LA MONT STEAM GENERATOR, Ltd., and McKAY, W. June 19, 1945, No. 15633. [Class 123 (ii)] In shell type boilers, especially Cornish, Lancashire or multi-tubular boilers, the flue gases irom the furnace tube pass through a brick-lined chamber 1 containing water-tube connection elements 2 which receive water taken at 6 from the front near the bottom of the boiler by suction and circulated by a pump 5 through a header 3 and the sinuous pipes 2 to an outlet header 4 and hence through a pipe 8 to the top of the boiler. The chamber 1 has an expansion joint or means permitting expansion of parts of the plant. The boiler unit is supported at ground level by cradles, and the outer shell of the boiler is lagged. The bottom of the chamber 1 is at ground level and has a door for removal of flue dust. The chamber 1 has bye-pass flues for economisers or other heat-reclaiming devices and for repair of the tubes 2. Specifications 27,269/08, [Class 123], and 483,632 are referred to.
