Abstract

592,821. Electric. motors. STRAUSSLER, N. May 25, 1945, No. 13169. [Class 35] A gas compressor unit for refrigerators is ' driven by a motor whose rotor is enclosed in a casing comprising a sleeve within the bore-of the stator which also affords a field for an auxiliary rotor exterior to the casing driving a cooling fan. As shown, the pump body 1 is secured to a supporting plate 3 having inlet and outlet ports 5, 6. The rotor shaft has bearings in an extension 9 of the pump body extending through the plate 3 which also carries a boss 15 to which is secured the metal sleeve 14 fitting the interior of the stator laminations. A cover-plate 18 closes the sleeve and carries a bearing for a condenser cooling fan 23 driven by the auxiliary rotor within the same stator as the main rotor. The sleeve may be of copper, aluminium, steel, stainless steel or non-ferrous alloy.
