Abstract
591,872. Vehicle wheels. KELSEY-HAYES WHEEL CO. Dec. 28, 1944, No. 26032. Convention date, Dec. 13, 1943. [Class 144 (i)] A sheet-metal wheel, stated to be particularly applicable to aircraft, comprises inner and outer main discs 2, 3 embodying rim-base portions 13, 16 and tyre-retaining flanges 14, 17 respectively, and an intermediate bracing-member 4 embodying a rim-base portion 19 and a radial load-supporting portion 21. The latter is stiffened by spaced ribs 24. The rim-portion 19 of the member 4 overlaps, and is riveted to, a stepped portion of the rim-base 13 on the disc 2; and, at the outer side of the wheel is itself stepped to provide a seat for the rim-base portion 16 of the disc 3. The latter is detachably secured by bolts 25 engaging nuts 26 fixed to the inner face of the part 21 of the member 4.
