633,612. Vehicle wheels. KELSEY-HAYES WHEEL CO., Ltd. Feb. 25, 1948, No. 5686. Convention date, April 7, 1947. [Class 144 (ii)] A sheet-metal rim, with the grain of the metal preferably extending transversely, comprises a main portion 1 and a detachable flange 2 secured by a split-ring 3 seated in a groove 6 of the rim-base and clamped between the outer wall 9 of the groove and a series of depressions 13 pressed out of the tyre-seating bed of the flange 2. Both tyre-seats are coned and the arrangement is such that the locking-ring 3 exerts a radial distorting-pressure on the flange 2 and/or the rim-base. In modifications, the outer edge of the rim-base is upset to provide greater thickness in the zone of the groove.
