Abstract
591,827. Heating galvanizing baths. THOMPSON BROS. (BILSTON), Ltd., and STORDY, J. J. Feb. 9, 1945, No. 3256. [Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii)] [Also in Group II] A plant for heating a galvanizing or like bath, in which heated gases are circulated round the upper part of the bath and back round the lower part to a furnace or heater, has a fan placed at the point where the gases pass from the upper passages, round the bath to the lower passages. Heated gas, or combustion gas from a furnace 11, is led through a mixing chamber 14, through two branch passages 15 surrounding the upper part of a bath 10, through a transverse flue 16 and a pipe 17 to a fan 18 which delivers the gas back through a pipe 19, a transverse flue 20 and branch pipes 21, surrounding the lower part of the bath 10, to the lower part of the heated mixing chamber 14. When furnace combustion products are circulated in the system, their rate of inflow is controlled by a bleed-off comprising an uptake flue controlled by a damper (not shown) and leading from one of the branch pipes 21.
