Abstract

591,157. Cylinders. WESLAKE, H. April 25, 1945, No. 10364. [Class 7 (ii)] In an engine having a hemispherical combustion chamber and overhead valves the mixture is supplied by curved passages which enter the cylinder in a non-radial direction. As shown, a branched induction pipe 23 having a deflector 24 leads to Venturi-shaped passages 18, constructed at 21 and inclined to the combustion chamber radius adjacent each radiallyarranged inlet valve 14. The sparking plug is located at 19 where it is swept by the incoming stream, and an opposed exhaust valve 15 has a dished head.
