Abstract

590,855. Broom handles. FROGLEY, A. R. April 23, 1945, No. 10177. [Class 61 (i)] A telescopic broom handle has means for positively locking various types of head on one end and locking means for holding the handle in extended position. The head is secured to a metal plate by screws and a shank 2 attached to the plate is adapted to enter the part 3 of the tubular handle. The end of the shank 2 is slotted, the inner end of the slot being enlarged. A spring-actuated locking-pin 8 passes through the handle 3 and the slot in the shank 2. The part 3 of the handle is telescopically mounted in a tube 13, and that in a further tube. The parts 3 and 13 have each a flat spring 15 attached at one end, provided with buttons 16, which engage in holes in the outer tubes and lock the handle in extended position. Each of the tubes 3 and 13 is provided with a stop collar 17 to limit their movement. The forward ends of the two outer tubes are formed with circumferential depressions 18, which serve as bearing surfaces for the tubes 3 and 13,
