590,731. Fluid-pressure servomotorcontrol systems. SVENSKA TURBIN. FABRIKS AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROM Sept. 9, 1944, No. 17246. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1943. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXVI] A speed governing arrangement for turbines driving electric generating plant comprises a centrifugal governor 5 mounted in a casing 4 and actuating a control valve 7 of a power device 11 for controlling the regulating valve. A rod 14 also actuated by the governor is fitted with a collar 15 that can engage an abutment 18 of an auxiliary loading spring 16 that causes the governor to be inoperative over a certain speed range. The spring 16 is enclosed in a casing 17 that has an enlargement 20 acting as a piston within a cylinder 19. The casing 17 is pressed downwards by a spring 22 so that the spring is inoperative and fluid pressure can be supplied to the cylinder 19 to raise the housing 17 to bring the spring into operation. The supply of fluid pressure to the cylinder is controlled by a valve 23 actuated by an electromagnet arranged to be energized when the machine is switched from the network.
