503,213. Fluid-pressure servomotorcontrol systems. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 29, 1937; No. 18074. Void. Convention date, June 29, 1936. [Class 135] An automatic regulator has a spring-centralized dashpot q which lags behind the movement of a power piston g and is connected by a linkage r, s, e to the control valve f of the power piston so as to move the control valve after a regulating operation in the same direction as it was originally moved by the initial control impulse. As shown the regulator is utilized control the steam supply to a turbine according to the boiler pressure. The latter acts on a diaphragm a connected by a linkage b, c, d, e to a slide valve f guided in and controlling a spring-loaded power piston g. The piston rod l has two shoulders m against which a spring n presses plates o which also abut stops p in the dashpot piston q. The rod l is connected by a linkage t, u, v to a slide valve w. controlling a rotary motor. The latter adjusts the supply of motive fluid to the turbine and carries on its shaft a return motion cam X. An emergency governor z takes over the control in the case of excessive speed. The dashpot piston q is arranged in the same casing as the piston g and thus its cylinder receives oil exhausted from the power piston g. The regulator may alternatively be influenced by speed or temperature.
