Abstract
589,865. Signs. FRANCO-BRITISH ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd., and BRACKENSEY, A. H. July 27, 1945, No. 14962/44. [Class 3 (ii)] In a display sign of the kind comprising at least one electric discharge tube, 10, Fig. 3, bent or formed to the desired shape and mounted on a backing board 1, a translucent synthetic resin screen 9A is mounted on the backing board to cover the tube and to intercept and diffuse the light therefrom and the board is of such a size that it extends beyond the area of the screen and forms a background for the sign. As shown in Fig. 3, the screen 9A is of U-section and its external surface is formed with facets 11. Alternatively, the screen may be of angular section and the external and internal surfaces may be sand blasted or formed with notches or indentations. The screen may be formed in one piece or may be built up of elements 5-8, Fig. 2, joined together by a softening agent.
