589,169. Tiles. UNIVERSAL ASBESTOS MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and SNELLING, J. C. March 16, 1945, No. 6654. [Class 20 (iv)] [Also in Group XXV] A spring metal clip for securing asbestoscement articles to one another or to other objects is so shaped that when forced into a bored hole in an asbestos-cement batten B, its two arms expand on reaching the conical or spiralled hole left on that side of the batten remote from the boring tool, and from a bowed part E extending beyond the asbestos-cement; they then approach one another again so that resistance of the clip to detachment is exerted axially. The shanks D, between the head C and bowed part E, of the clip vary in length according to the thickness of the article to be secured. The ends of the clip may stretch for some distance beyond the cement and may be sharpened or bevelled. The limbs may be tapered and should both be the same length. The head or outer end C may be a cross-bar of a length greater than the combined width of the two links of the clip. Specifications 450,674, 479,886, and 536,067, [all in Group XXV], are referred to.
