Abstract
589,098. Photographic copying apparatus. MONTGOMERY, G. B. Feb. 17,1945, No. 4068. [Class 98 (i)] Means for insertion between the body and lens of a miniature photographic camera, such as those sold under the Registered Trade Mark " Leica " which have a rigid body and detachable. objectives, to adapt the camera. for copying consists of a holder comprising (1) a base plate 1 having threaded holes 2 for securing it to a rigid support; (2) a front plate 3 having a circular hole 6 surrounded at the front by a flange threaded,to take the detachable lens of the camera, and having at the rear a counterbore 8 of larger diameter into which can fit either the objective-receiving flange on the camera 4 or a similar flange 61 on a separate focussing tube 5 ; and (3) a preferably bifurcated spring blade 10 for holding the camera or focussing tube in position. The focussing tube is made up of components 5,5A which carry at their junction a screen 12, provided with a rectangular mask 14, disposed at a distance from the outer edge of the flange 61 equal to that of the film plane of the camera from the outer end of the objective-receiving flange. In use the tube is rotated until two red dots, one on the tube and the other on the front plate 3 coincide, indicating that the long edge of the mask 14 is parallel to the base plate 1, and the image of the object to be copied is focussed on the screen 12. The tube is then replaced by the camera 4 and the,film exposed.
