Abstract
588,086. Gas turbines. POWER JETS, Ltd., and NATHAN, M. L. April 1, 1943, No. 5266. [Class 51 (i)] A combustion chamber 8, for continuous combustion gas turbines and other purposes, is enclosed within a shell 1 through which air from an inlet 2 passes to the chamber and has an outlet 9 leading to a turbine 6. The air is admitted to the combustion chamber through holes in its cylindrical wall. The holes at 16, 17, are provided by short nozzle-shaped passages guiding the air into the chamber tangentially. The passages at 17 are arranged oppositely to those at 16. Rings of simple holes 15, 18 are also provided. Other nozzle-shaped passages at 13 admit air tangentially through the end wall of the chamber. Several chambers are arranged circularly in the turbine plant and are interconnected by-air ducts 7. The 'shells 8 are connected by pipes 20 slidingly supported in the ducts 7.
