Abstract

586,556. Gas turbines. BAUMANN, K., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Jan. 12, 1942, No. 471. [Class 110 (iii)] The combustion chamber of a gas turbine for aircraft propulsion surrounds the air-compressor. It may be a single annular chamber or an annular assembly of separate chambers. Guiding surfaces 7, 13 are provided for the double reversal of flow involved. Some of the air passes round the combustion chamber, as at 9, and some is caught by the U-shaped guide 41 and directed along the inner side of the chamber. The compressor and turbine may be of the contra-rotational type. Specifications 586,553 and 586,555 are referred to.
