Abstract
585,192. Radiators for aircraft. BELAIEFF, J. F., DELANEY, C. T., and GALLAY, Ltd. Oct. 31, 1944, No. 21259. [Class 64 (iii)] In an aircraft radiator comprising thin flat tubes 1 spaced by secondary surface elements each in the form of, e.g., a pair of corrugated plates 2 with an intermediate flat sheet 3, brass protecting strips 5 are mounted on, or made in one with. the said elements on one or both faces of the radiator. Preferably the strips 5 project beyond the edges of the adjacent tubes to such an extent that, if bent accidentally, they will overlie these edges. As shown, the corrugated plates 2 stop short of the seamed edges of the tubes 1, and the tops of the corrugations remote 'from the tubes are flattened for a short distance to provide gaps for locating the strips 5, the sheets 3 terminating where these flattened portions 4 commence. The strips 5 are tapered with a rounded free edge and are secured to the plates 2 by soldering.
