Abstract

584,594. Axle box suspensions for rail vehicles. SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMOTIV-UND MASCHINENFABRIK. Jan. 8, 1945, Nos. 676 and 677. Convention dates, Feb. 8, 1943, and July 1, 1943. [Class 103 (vi)] An axle box is formed with arms 3 which sustain the load from the vehicle frame 4. through the intermediary of springs. 5, and which are guided vertically by members 11 engaging cylindrical sleeves 6, elastic members in the form of rubber sleeves 9 being inserted between the members 6 and the walls of the arms 3, the length of the rubber sleeves being greater than their radial thickness, and sleeves being arranged at a level to extend above and below the centre of the axle 10. An additional rubber washer 7 may be inserted between a collar at the base of the sleeve 6 or the elastic members 7, 9, may be combined in the form of a single sleeve. An oil bath 12 may be provided for lubrication of the guide members 6, 11. In a modification, not shown, a metal sleeve is interposed between the rubber sleeve 9 and the wall of the arm 3, engaging the spring 5 at its upper surface, and horizontally disposed bolts extending across the base of the arm 3 at its under surface.
