Abstract
581,236. Air-break switches. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. Sept. 29, 1944, No. 18699. Convention date, Sept 4, 1943. [Class 38 (v)] In a multi-break gasblast circuit - breaker with voltage-distributing impedances in parallel with the power - interrupting points, the residual current through the impedances is interrupted by pressure gas at the series voltage isolating contacts which are maintained constantly under the pressure of the gas. The power switching points are in insulators c', c', and the impedances in insulators e', e<2>. Pressure gas is supplied through valve f and insulator b to the two series breaks of the switch d. After the arcs are extinguished, the pressure is maintained by spring-valves k<1>, k<2>, in order to ensure the voltage isolation. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states also that the pressure gas may pass to a single-break isolating switch arm through the insulator supporting the fixed contact or through the arm itself, Fig. 1 (Cancelled, not shown) or through a tube carried by the arm Fig. 2 (Cancelled, not shown). In Fig. 4 (Cancelled, not shown), the stroke of the movable contacts of two series isolating breaks is increased. In these forms the contacts are not held open in a compressed-gas atmosphere. This subject-matter does not apper in the Specification as accepted.
