Abstract
581,030. Luminescent materials. CINEMA - TELEVISION, Ltd., SAMSON, K. A. R., and HEAD, R. B. June 15, 1944, No. 11462. [Class 39 (i)] Luminescent materials of the kind adapted to luminesce under electron bombardment are tinted or coated with a layer of substance to give them a low reflection coefficient. Reduction of contrast in the pictures on a screen using such material due to reflection of outside illumination is thus reduced. In a preferred process luminescent powder is treated with a solution of suitable reducing agent such as dextrose and then treated with a dilute solution of silver nitrate. The luminescent material may be a mixture of sulphide phosphors.
