[Class 144 (ii)] Tread bands and surfaces:-The treads of heavy-duty pneumatic tyres are reinforced by one or more steel bands 12 of girder-section extending through the full thickness of the tread. The webs 16 of the bands are perforated to increase adhesion with the surrounding rubber.
