855,662. Pneumatic tyres. PHOENIX GUMMIWERKE A.G. May 9, 1957 [May 18, 1956], No. 14814/57. Class 144 (2). A pneumatic tyre has a tread reinforcement of one or more layers of parallel steel, cotton or nylon cords 5 disposed with the cords in the, or each, layer extending at an angle in the range 0-15 degrees to the circumferential, and either decreasing in transverse spacing, Fig. 2, or increasing in cross-sectional diameter, Fig. 3, from the sides of the layer to the centre thereof. In a three-layer reinforcement, the layers are of decreasing width and cord angle radially outwardly from the innermost layer.
