Abstract

577,430. Feeding webs. WILLIAMSON, S. Jan. 24, 1944, No. 1309. [Class 100 (i)] [Also in Group XX] Photographic roll film developing, fixing and washing apparatus with banks of web guiding rollers has its bottom rollers each carried in a yoke which when raised in guides to the top of the apparatus above the processing tanks leaves one end of the roller free in the guides to allow the film to be threaded without releasing the grip thereon through the rollers. In Fig. 4, a bottom roller 18 is shown in its raised position preparatory to introducing the film. The spindle of the roller is supported in a yoke 29 suspended on a vertical rod 30 passing through a bar 31 and the fixed cover 32 of the tank housing. It is clamped in the upper position, preferably above the upper rollers, by means of clamping screws 33. The yoke is guided in channels 35 in the walls of the tank and an additional guide channel 36 secured to the upper part of the tank only, thereby leaving the front end of the roller free when in the lifted position. The upper rollers 17 are supported in bearing channel girders 19, and the rear ends of the spindles are, in certain cases, in driving connection with sprocket wheels 20 all of which are driven by a single chain.
