Abstract

576,560. Mixing liquids. CRAWFORD W. R. July 21, 1942, No. 10204. [Class 86] In apparatus for introducing foam-forming or other liquid into a main stream by means of a jet pump, means are provided which measure the quantity rate of flow of the main stream and regulate the quantity rate of flow of liquid introduced into the main stream in such a manner as to maintain a desired relationship in the two rates of flow. The stream passes through a venturi tube 2, connections 3, 4 leading from the entrance and throat to opposite ends of a hydraulic cylinder 5, the piston 6 of which actuates a valve 8 governing the flow of liquid from a tank 9 to a jet pump 10 submerged in the tank. The valve is contoured to maintain the desired relationship in the two rates of flow. The jet pump may deliver to the inlet side of a pump forcing liquid through the pipe 1.
