Abstract

574,478. Gas turbines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. (General Electric Co.). Nov. 25, 1941, No. 15202. [Class 110 (iii)] The nozzle-box 12 of an exhaust gas turbine is separated from the driven air compressor 13 by a partition 17. Cooling air is admitted by a conduit 21 and part passes between the compressor and the partition. The rest is directed by a curved trough 20 to the turbine wheel disc and escapes between the nozzle-box and a curved screen 15 to the space on the nozzle-box side of the partition 17.
