Abstract
573,286. Drying air or gases. BRAYSHAW FURNACES & TOOLS, Ltd., BRAYSHAW, S. N., NEWMAN, F. C., and RUSHTON, F. Jan. 20, 1944, No. 1110. [Class 34 (i)] [Also in Group III] In silica gel apparatus for the adsorption of moisture from air or gases in which the silica gel is periodically reactivated by air, the latter is supplied to the apparatus through an inlet C and is heated by passage over electric heaters D <2> of the immersion type which are located in the top A<2> of the casing A of the apparatus, preferably above the wet gas inlet B, with their terminals arranged in a box D<1> external to said casing. A thermostat F may be provided for controlling the heaters D<2> during reactivation and also the fan supplying the reactivating air. The silica gel is contained in an inner vessel E having a bottom e of screen-like formation and one or more internal peripheral gas-deflecting baffles e<1>, the bottom a<3> of the casing A being inclined so that any accumulation of water and silica gel below the vessel E will run towardsa draintap F<1> and hand-hole F<2>. A visual indicator G for determining the condition of the silica gel may be provided in the form of a glass, &c. tube containing, e.g., fabric soaked in cobalt chloride, the said tube being fitted in the outlet pipe D of the apparatus or parallel thereto.
