Abstract

A composition for forming damp-proof joints in buildings consists of vulcanized oil rubber substitute with or without an addition of mineral rubber, soft pitch or bitumen, mixed with fillers such as whiting, china clay, barytes, carbon-black, zinc oxide, lithopone, and a small proportion of an anti-oxidant and a waxy or oily lubricant. Suitable proportions are 37 per cent of vulcanized oils and bitumens, 60 per cent whiting or carbon black, 1 per cent stearic acid or paraffin wax, 1 per cent mineral oil, and 1 per cent anti-oxidant such as "Nonox S" (Registered Trade Mark). The composition is suitable for use in buildings as described in Specification 569,503, [Group X].
