Abstract
570,354. Cooling valve seatings. ASPIN, F. M. Dec. 7, 1943, No. 20456. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] In a rotary valve assembly having a rotary valve 10 mounted in a plug-like housing 11 adapted to be secured in the end of the cylinder or in an extension 12 thereof, a cooling space 11a in the housing is connected to a cooling space 12a in the extension through registering holes in the outer and inner walls respectively of the two parts with resilient jointing means such as a rubber sleeve 17a which permits some tolerance of alignment and an apertured plug 17 or other securing means therefor, accessible through the outer wall of the extension &c. Two plugs are provided, one, 16, at the top of the cooling space 11a and the other, 17, at the bottom thereof and each plug com-- prises a conical end portion, an apertured intermediate part and a closed head 17b positioned by a removable cap member 19. The device is shown applied to a conical valve as described in Specification 564,850 and having a sealing ring 14 as set forth in Specification 570,286. In an alternative construction, the holes are countersunk and an endless rubber ring of round or other section replaces the sleeve 17a. Specifications 557,564 and 557,565 also are referred to.
