Abstract

637,362. Lubricating valves. ASPIN, F. M. March 17, 1945, No. 6787. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iv)] A conical rotary valve a having a cylindrical portion a<SP>1</SP> extending into the cylinder or its liner is provided with a groove a<SP>2</SP> at the base of the conical portion in which oil collects during operation of the engine, the oil draining into the end of the cylinder when the engine is stopped and providing sufficient lubricant for restarting. A piston ring e prevents the oil draining away too quickly, and the end d<SP>1</SP> of the cylinder or its liner is bevelled to co-operate with the groove a<SP>2</SP>. Specification 562,933 is referred to.
