Abstract
567,163. Building slabs. TARRAN, R G. July 26, 1943, No. 12143. [Class 87 (i)] A prefabricated building unit for floors or roofs comprises a portable skeleton frame made up of parallel metal joists 10 to which are secured the ends of a number of wooden crossribs 16. As shown, the joists are of partial box section and the turned-over flanges 14 filled with wooden strips 12 ; the wooden crossribs are of plywood 20 provided with end fillets 24 engaging in the joists and with wooden flanges 22 extending over the flanges of the metal joists. Holes 32 are provided in the joists for fixing the end fillets 24 of the crossribs, also other holes 34 for bolting the unitstogether and still other holes 48 for passage of pipes &c. The end cross-ribs 40 are of plain timber. The end members 36 of the frame are of rolled steel or wood and have bolt holes 44 and other holes 42 for pipes &c. A resinbonded facing 52 is nailed over the top of the cross-ribs 16 and a sheet of paper or bituminous felt 50 may be applied for heat &c. insulation.
