Abstract
566,038. Windows. PERFECTAMOTOR EQUIPMENTS, Ltd., and BOSTOCK, C. W. April 21, 1943, No. 6440. [Class 20 (iii)] The stationary frame of a sliding double-sash window is formed of steel side members 10, top 11 and bottom 12 welded together, with channel members 15, 16 of extruded light alloy screwed to the side members with or without intervening plastic material 18, an extruded section 19 with a recess 20 and an interlocking flat section 23 secured to the top member and a light alloy section 24 forming the visible sill positioned over the bottom 12. The sashes are made from four pieces of extruded light alloy section, preferably hollow, and the top member of the upper sash is formed with an upstanding sealing rib 21 taking into the recess 20. The meeting edges of the sashes are formed with interengaging parts 39, 40 and sealing strips, such as described in Specification 566,039, are secured to the rib 21, in the part 39 and in a recess 35 in the bottom member of the lower sash. After the putty has been inserted, the sashes are completed by three sealing strips 43 secured within the sides and tops of both sashes. The lower sash is provided with an integral lifting handle 37. The sashes are balanced by spring- loaded drums housed in the masonry above the top frame member 11.
