559,468. Cellulose-derivative compositions. DREYFUS, H., WALKER, W., and ROONEY, J. H. Aug. 17, 1942, No. 11515. [Class 2 (ii)] [Also in Groups V and XXIII] A constructional material is formed of wood sawdust, shavings or chips bonded by not more than one-third of their weight of a waterresistant thermoplastic organic derivative of cellulose, such as cellulose acetate, acetatestearate, propionate, butyrate, acetate-propionate, acetate-butyrate or acetate-nitrate, or ethyl- or benzyl-cellulose. Plasticizers for the cellulose derivative may be added, e.g. triacetin, triethyl citrate, dimethyl or diethyl phthalate, tripropionin, methyl- or ethylphthalyl ethyl glycollate, tri-(mono-chlorethyl) phosphate or tri-phenyl or tri-cresyl phosphate. The wood particles may be mixed with a solution of the cellulose derivative or with the dry derivative in presence of a plasticizer or solvent and, after drying, the coated particles are moulded at about 150‹ C. under pressures of 150 to 1,500 lbs. per square inch.
