Abstract
Cellulose ether moulding compositions comprising a cellulose ether, e.g. ethyl cellulose and a plasticiser are stabilised against the action of heat and light by incorporating therewith a polybasic aliphatic acid or an ester thereof containing one or more free carboxyl groups in amount 0.01-5 per cent of the weight of the ether. Specified polybasic acids are citric, tartaric, oxalic, succinic, malic, itaconic, aconitic, maleic, adipic and sebacic acids, and specified esters are mono- and di-ethyl citrates. Specified plasticisers are dibutyl phthalate, tricresyl and triphenyl phosphate and ethylene glycol mono-butyl-ether mono-stearate. Specification 369,294, [Group V], is referred to.
