Abstract
559,398. Stretchers. GENERAL AIRCRAFT Ltd., LEATHER, G. B., and WALLBANKS, W. H. Sept. 7, 1942, No. 12613. [Class 108 (i)] A foldable stretcher comprises two canvas-carrying longitudinal members 11, each carrying at its ends handles 13 pivoted about horizontal pins 12, stays 14, foldable about central vertical pivots 15, being pivotally connected at each end to a handle 13 and supporting the ends of the members 11 when extended as shown in Fig. 1 ; when the stays are folded the members 11 are brought together and the handles 13 with the canvas parts thereon can be folded over to lie alongside the members 11 as shown in Fig. 3. Straps 18, 19 may be provided for holding the parts in their collapsed condition. A leg-support 21, Fig. 6, provided with side supports 22 is carried by tubular bolts 16 forming the end pivots for the stays 14. As shown in Fig. 7, legs 20 may be furnished for the handles 13, which may be turned up for a back-rest, the legs 20 serving to maintain the rest in its position of use.
