559,165. Variable-pitch propellers. ELLIOTT, A. G., and FAIRHURST, L. G. June 3, 1942, No. 7571. [Class 114] In an aircraft propeller installation a pair of separate engines each drive one of a pair of co-axial shafts 5, 10 carrying constant-speed variable-pitch propellers 2, 7, the propeller 7 being operated hydraulically by pressure fluid supplied through the shaft 10, whilst the pitch of the propeller 2 is changed by a rotary hydraulic, electric, or other motor 18 carried on the engine or other fixed part of the installation. Manual means may override the governor control so that each or both propellers may be feathered or reversed. Specifications 416,881 and 483,824 are referred to.
