Abstract
558,860. Adjusting wireless apparatus. SMITH, S.J. July 21, 1942, No. 10150. [Class 37] An adjustable electrical instrument, such as a condenser, or inductance, having a rotor and a stator in which a main control is provided for adjusting the position of the rotor and an auxiliary control is provided for adjusting the position of the stator relative to the rotor, has the scale and index for the main control mounted one on the rotor and one on the stator. As shown in the Figure, a main knob 18 acting through epicyclic gearing 19 and shaft 13, adjusts the rotor (not shown); of a condenser relative to the stator 11. For fine adjustment, the stator is moved by an auxiliary knob 26 acting through shaft 22, and cam 24 on an arm 25 fixed to the stator. The main scale 20 movable with the rotor coacts with an index 21 carried on an arm 22' fixed on the stator, and so is direct reading in spite of the auxiliary adjustment of the stator. An auxiliary vernier scale 27 is also provided.
