Abstract

556,591. Lamp-holders. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 9, 1942, No. 4651. Convention date, April 9, 1941. [Class 38 (i)] A holder for a tubular discharge lamp with a pair of contact pins comprises a pair of blade contacts 21, 22 with which the pins engage, one blade 21 having an integral terminal 28 for connection to the supply and the other carrying a subsidiary contact 37 that co-operates with a movable switch member 38 to connect it to a supply terminal 45. The switch comprises a square cam 38 of insulating material carrying a contact plate 40 against which a tongue 43 mounted on the terminal 45 presses continuously, end tags on the plate being bent over the edge of the cam so as to engage the contact 37 when the switch is in its closed position. The switch is operated by a knob 39.
