556,147. Abrasive sheets. ABBEY, A. (Carborundum Co.). Feb. 19, 1942 No. 2241. [Class 60] An abrasive coated sheet suitable for removable attachment to a permanent backing 1 comprises a support 2 having abrasive particles 4 attached to one side by a binder and an adhesive coating 3 on the opposite side comprising a highly adhesive layer and then a layer of permanently tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive. The pressure-sensitive layer may comprise rubber and a resin or a cellulose derivative and a resin, and may be covered with a protecting sheet which is stripped off for use ; the highly adhesive material may consist of a modified rubber sold under the Registered Trade Mark "Vulcalock." The support 2 is not readily penetrable by the abrasive particles 4 and comprises vulcanized fibre or hydrated cellulose and may consist of a number of plies of such material.
