[Class 39 (i)] In heavy current cathodes for transmitting valves comprising a num ber of co-axially arranged rods or wires 1 ... 12, the rods are connected in groups of three by cir cumferential wires c or d, groups of similar polarity being cross-connected by stiffeners e, f. Several sets of stiffeners may be used, those belonging to the rods 1 ... 3 and 7 ... 9 being in different planes from the others. The support rods g for the grid are placed opposite the spaces between the groups.
