[Class 6 (ii)] [Also in Group V] Plugs for seed germination are prepared by extruding soil from a tube 6 by means of a plunger 10, movement being limited by tranverse pins serving as handles. The plunger is formed with a spike for making a seed-receiving recess. The device may be used for dibbling holes to receive the plugs at planting-out time. plugs at planting-out time. A number of tubes may be united for simultaneous extrusion. The plugs may be dipped ni or sprayed with such material as casein glue to increase cohesion, or act as a fertiliser or insecticide ; and a deliquescent substance may be incorporated, or added to the moistening medium lining the germinating box, tray or container.
