Abstract
504,863. Distributers for manures, seeds, &c. MAYER, S. May 18, 1938, No. 14773. [Class 6 (i)] A machine for distributing manure or sowing seeds is provided with a number of coutters 18 each of which is connected to the hopper 8 by a rubber tube 11. The upper end of the tube may be provided with a fitting 10 which embraces a short tube or neck depending from the hopper. The fitting 10 may be secured in the tube 11 by a clip comprising a metal band 14 the overlapping ends of which can be drawn together by a screw 17 carried by one end of the band and engaging recesses 16 in the other end. In the machine illustrated the coulter 18 is carried by a frame 19 hinged to the main frame of the machine so that it can be lifted and lowered by a flexible member 22 and winch 23. A cutter or furrow-making wheel 24 driven from the main axle 6 may be arranged in front of each coulter 18, the furrow depth being regulated by an adjustable wheel 26. Agitators may be driven from the axle 6 and may cooperate with shutters reciprocating across the hopper outtet, or a member having pockets may deliver the seed &c. to the tubes 11. A separate hopper may be provided for each tube and coulter, or a single hopper having a number of openings in the bottom may be used.
