Abstract
553,586. Air preheaters. PLOMIEN FUEL ECONOMISER CO., Ltd., and STEUERMAN, M. Jan. 15, 1942, No. 614. [Class 51 (i)] Air preheaters for furnaces adapted to be attached to the inside of furnace doors as described in Specifications 485,987 and 549,096 or other suitable part of a furnace so as to be exposed to the heat of the fire over which the preheater delivers a stream of air for combustion are provided with protective coverings having an aperture or apertures registering with the discharge aperture or apertures of the preheater. Fig. 3 shows a protective cover applied to a preheater 7 of the kind described in Specification 549,096 and comprising a front wall 1 with a slot 4 to receive the bulge 5 of the preheater and a marginal flange 2 having lugs 16 or a peripheral flange provided with holes 17 to receive studs for securing it to the furnace door or other supporting structure on which the preheater is mounted.
