553,469. Knitting-machines; cams. MELLOR BROMLEY & CO., Ltd., BROMLEY, T. C., and SHORTLAND, A. Oct. 20, 1941, No. 13447. [Class 74 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIV] The draw-cam 10 of a straight-bar machine is mounted on the main cam shaft 11 so as to be shogged therewith so that when the cam shaft is shogged for fashioning or transferring the drawcam is disengaged from the draw-lever 12. The lever 12 may have a follower 14 engaging a cam track 10' in the draw-cam, and a second follower 16 arranged to engage an annular track in a disc spaced from the cam 10 when the shaft 11 is shogged. To allow the cam to produce only one draw motion per revolution, a cam track 110' intersecting itself may be provided, and so that the follower 14 passes correctly across the intersection, a switch 21 is mounted within the groove of a control cam which rotates at half the speed of the draw-cam. Alternatively the switch 21 may have a projection engaged by the follower so that the switch is correctly positioned for the next passage of the follower through the switch. Two draw-levers and draw-cams may be provided, the levers being connected to a chain or other flexible member arranged lengthways of the machine.
